                                                Federal Trade Commission Actions

Among the missions undertaken by the Federal Trade Commission is protection of consumers in the U.S. The FTC’s 2011 report confirms that from April 2010 to mid-March of 2011, the agency:

                                                   ● Filed 38 actions in federal district court
                                                   ● Obtained 82 judgments and orders that directed defendants to pay more than $365 million to wronged consumers
                                                   ● Referred cases to the Justice Department that culminated in 8 civil penalty orders for more than $5 million in civil penalties
                                                   ● Approved 14 administrative orders
                                                   ● Logged more than 250,000 complaints about identity theft in 2010
