                                                The Commercial Real Estate Leasing Market in New York

                                                Real estate consulting firm Cushman & Wakefield, which tracks activity in various real estate markets, notes these facts about the commercial market in New York for 2010:

                                                   ● Commercial leasing activity increased in 2010.
                                                   ● Compared with 2009 figures, new leasing rose more than 61% in 2010.
                                                   ● For the year, activity measured more than 26 million square feet.
                                                   ● At year’s end, office vacancy rates in Manhattan averaged 10.5%.
                                                   ● Sublease space also saw a decrease in vacancy rates.
                                                   ● Almost half of people aged 21 to 64 who have a disability are employed.
                                                   ● Almost 30% of new leasing went to the financial services industry, with legal services at nearly 11%, and the government, education, and social services sector at almost 10%.
